WHAT IS AN ELECTRODIAGNOSTIC EXAMINATION?
This involves measuring, using fine needles placed in the muscles and nerves of the limbs, the electrical currents within them.
This examination allows us to clarify the diagnosis in the event of a neuromuscular disease (neuropathy, disease of the junction between nerves and muscles, myopathy). These diseases generally result in generalized weakness. In this case, it is often combined with muscle and/or nerve biopsies.
This examination can also determine the neurological or orthopaedic nature of a lameness.
WHAT IS AN EVOKED AUDITORY POTENTIAL?
This is a deafness screening test. In particular, it is frequently used to detect congenital deafness in predisposed breeds (Dalmatian, English Setter, Australian Shepherd, Argentinian Dogo, etc.). The test allows us to know if the animal is deaf in one or both ears.
